Top 14 Final – Only two days after the title, Romain Ntamack already has surgery

Just two days after the Top 14 final, where he was forced off at halftime, Romain Ntamack is already on the operating table. A long-planned procedure on his left knee. Tradition will likely be broken, and Romain Ntamack will not be surfing the Brennus Shield as he has become accustomed to doing in recent years. The Toulouse fly-half underwent surgery two days after the victory against Union Bordeaux-Bègles.

An operation already planned

The fly-half had to give up his place at halftime in the final due to a shoulder injury . But it wasn't this new injury that forced him to have surgery. Romain Ntamack was still struggling with his left knee, where he had undergone surgery after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament while preparing for the 2023 World Cup.

At the end of the semi-final against Bayonne, he admitted that he had been bothered by his knee since the beginning of the season. "I'm hanging in there! Since the beginning of the season, it's still a point that has handicapped me... I had injection after injection precisely to avoid surgery and be operational. And at the end of this season, I feel pretty good. The injection is having a good effect, so it doesn't bother me too much. There's one last match left, I'm going to bite the bullet and have surgery after that."  An operation that aims to clean up the knee and which should allow the French fly-half to resume the next season at 100%.
