Canes scored a crucial try for the Chiefs in the first half when the game looked to have been slipping away from his side.

The Chiefs captained was busy as usual around the park he made 7 tackles, made 12 carries and gained 57 metres beating 3 defenders.


 


Jack Goodhue

Tipped for a bright future in the All Black jersey, Goodhue showed similar form to last season with a fantastic defensive effort and quality decision making on attack.


The 22-year-old ran brilliant support lines causing headaches for the Chiefs defence, a notable one was the line he ran in the build-up to Sam Whitelock's try.

He also beat 5 defenders (joint highest in the match), made 36 metres from his 5 carries and made 7 tackes.

The Crusaders captain opened up his 2018 Super Rugby try scoring account when he finished off a brilliant team try with a strong carry between two of the Chiefs' front rowers. The 29-year-old was busy on defence making 7 tackles and put the Chiefs lineout under tremendous pressure. 

 

George Bridge 

The young Crusaders speedster had a breakthrough year in 2017 scoring 8 tries and got his 2018 season the same way with scoring late in the second half. Bridge made 106 metres - more than any other player. He also beat 3 defenders and made two clean breaks. 

Anton Lienert-Brown

 

The Chiefs centre was in fine form today maintaining a 100% tackle success rate, he also got the Chiefs on the front foot with all 9 of his carries. Lienert-Brown made one error in the match with a poor pass which was intercepted in the latter stages of the match, but the Chiefs no.13 still had a brilliant game.
