Covid whipping through Munster squad

Covid whipping through Munster squad

Covid-19 appears to be whipping through the ranks of Munster as the Irish outfit is currently in isolation in South Africa.

Munster were unable to depart South African shores on Sunday after one of the touring party returned a positive Covid test while one other person was identified as a close contact.

The squad and management underwent another round of testing on 29 November and further positive cases were identified.

According to the42.ie, as many as 9 new positive cases may be currently present in the squad.

It was yesterday announced by Ireland’s minister of sport, Jack Chambers, that the touring party – barring two members – had been given the all-clear to return home, however, it is now probable that most of the squad will have to isolate in South Africa.

It is a worrying situation for the Irish giants as they are due to tackle Wasps in their Champions Cup opener on 12 December. This will prove to be a significant spanner in the works of their preparations.
