Exeter Chiefs winger Ben Hammersley has signed a new deal with the club as the youngster readies for more experiences in Chiefs colours.
The former Super BUCS title winner has made more than 50 club appearances in all competitions since his debut in September 2023.
Hammersley said: “I’m really pleased to have re-signed with the club. The environment within the group this season has been brilliant, and I see it as a great place to keep developing my game.
“Also, with us pushing for silverware, I’m really excited to see what we could achieve as a club this season and going forward.”
For Chiefs, Hammersley’s adaptability to play across the backline has proven vital. The 22-year-old has appeared on the wing, at full-back and in the centre pairing during his time in Devon.
Hammersley’s introduction to rugby came at age six for his local club, Hertford RFC. A family move to Cornwall introduced him to Newquay Hornets before the Cornwall DPP programme brought him into the fold.
The hard-hitting winger continued his rugby development at Truro College before moving to Exeter in 2021 to start studies for a sports science degree. With the University of Exeter, Hammersley was named a Super BUCS title winner in 2022.
Director of rugby Rob Baxter said: “Ben is a player who, having come up through our academy, has always played very well for us. He covers a number of positions and he is someone who we still believe is improving as a player.
“It’s always great to keep one of our homegrown players on board, especially one who already has a good amount of PREM experience.
“It really feels like we’re starting to build a good depth of talent across our squad that we’re going to need as we follow our aim to be progressive in as many competitions as we can each year.
“Ben is one of those guys who works extremely hard at his game and who is extremely dedicated to Exeter Chiefs. He’s an important person to have around the building.”
