Maia Joseph

Maia Joseph is a dynamic halfback for the
Black Ferns and Matatū. Joseph began
her rugby journey with Pōneke, Wellington
at age five and later played for University
and Dunedin clubs. In 2020, she made her
Otago Spirit debut and earned the Fiao’o
Fa’amausili Medal as the Farah Palmer Cup
Player of the Year in 2022.
In 2024, she made a successful return to
rugby after being sidelined due to a knee
injury and made her debut for Matatū and
then the Black Ferns in the Pacific Four
Series against the USA.
Rugby talent isn’t scarce in the Joseph
household as she is the daughter of former
All Black Jamie Joseph.
