Zebo and Beale on the board as Racing 92 breeze past Bayonne

Racing 92 moved up to fourth on the TOP14 after on Sunday after beating Bayonne 43-17. The Parisian club ran in seven tries to Bayonne's two to claim a bonus-point victory.

21-year-old winger Donovan Taofifenua, the younger brother of Filimo and cousin of Romain and Sebastien Toafifenua, scored a fantastic hattrick that earned him a call up to the French squad. While captain and centre Henry Chavancy, winger Dorian Laborde, fullback Simon Zebo and former Wallaby Kurtley Beale dotted to secure the emphatic victory.

Chavancy got Racing on the board as early as the 2nd minute as he completed a nice attack started by flyhalf Antoine Gibert who made the initial break. Chavancy threw a dummy in the 22 before crashing over the line.

Donovan Taofifenua scored the first of his three tries in the 14th minute as he snatched an interception and sped past two defenders before going under the posts to make it 14-0.

Winger Dorian Laborde edged his name on the scoresheet in the 19th minute thanks to a nice skip pass by scrumhalf Teddy Iribaren.

It was Zebo's turn to grab a five pointer as he stepped past a few defenders near a ruck to snipe down the blindside.

Bayone did manage to get on the scoreboard before the break with a penalty via the boot of Manual Ordas and try from Arthur Duhau to make it 26-10 at haf time.

Just a minute into the second half, Taofifenau got his second. Simon Zebo broke through the Bayonne defence after a nice draw and pass from Virimi Vakatawa before the Irishman sent Taofifenau speeding down the touchline to score.

The youngster completed his hattrick in the 66th minute after a piece of brilliance from flyhalf Antoine Gibert.

Gibert spotted the rush from Bayonne, who were defending deep in their 22, and dropped the ball onto his weaker foot and stabbed an excellent grubber through for Taofifenau.

The winger did well to grab the ball at speed and finish the try in the corner.

Former Wallaby Kurtley Beale came on in the centres, replacing Vakatawa soon after half time, to put the icing on the cake for Racing just five minutes before full time.

Beale left three defenders in his wake as he stepped off his right foot inside the Bayonne 22 to score.

Racing 92 next face Bordeaux in their last TOP14 game before the Champions Cup season kicks off with a home game against Connacht and an away trip to the Stoop to face Harlequins.
