Faiva and Stewart to leave Bath

The club can confirm that Hame Faiva and John Stewart will be leaving Bath Rugby at the end of this current 2024/25 season.

Stewart departs having come through the club’s Academy system before making his Bath debut in 2021 against Gloucester Rugby.

The 22-year-old hooker represented England at both U18 and U20 level.

Fellow hooker Faiva joined the Blue, Black and White in November 2023, shortly after competing in the Rugby World Cup for Italy that same year.

The 31-year-old made his debut for Bath against Leicester Tigers, having previously spent time with Italian team Benetton, Worcester Warriors, and Hurricanes.

“This incredible club and the more incredible people of Bath have made my time here an absolute pleasure. I am going to thoroughly miss the atmosphere of The Rec and running out to that noise. I've made friends for life and great memories to go with them. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of my journey.”

Faiva, who has missed the majority of the 2024/25 season having injured his knee in the pre-season friendly against Cardiff Rugby, said: “On behalf of my small family and I, we would like to express our deepest gratitude for making this time here so special. To our loyal on-going supporters - thank you!”

“Thank you for following our journey whether it was physically or by spirit, we simply could not have achieved what we have without you all. From my heart to yours, big love and peace out to you all. “

Head of Rugby Johann van Graan praised the contributions of both players during their time spent with the Blue, Black and White.

He said: “These two gentlemen have added on and off the pitch with their unique personalities and will be missed by all. We wish them the very best for the next part of their journey.”

The club would also like to reaffirm its thanks to Jacques de Plessis and Regan Grace, who both left Bath during this season, and Kieran Verden, whose short-term contract will finish at the end of this campaign.
