The Bachelor of Commerce student at Fort Hare University represented
the Junior Springboks Women in 2022 and has been a regular starter for
the Border Ladies in the SA Rugby Women’s Premier Division, since then.
Her performances against the country’s leading props made the national
coaches take notice and soon after being called into camp for the first
time, Mdliki made her debut for South Africa against Italy in the 2024
WXV 2 tournament in Cape Town. She started in all three recent Rugby
Africa Women’s Cup tests in Madagascar. Mdliki is a fine example of the
SA Rugby pathway for young players, having represented Border at the
U16 and U18 Girls Week as a Chief Henry Bokleni Secondary School scholar
before representing the SA U20 side. That Athlone Stadium entry remains
Mdliki’s career highlight and her favourite rugby memory, but she could
add more to her gallery soon.
