Haashim Pead

5th Jul 2005 1.75m/77kg Scrum Half

Haashim Pead, born in Cape Town, South Africa, is a rising rugby scrum-half currently representing the Golden Lions Academy and the Junior Springboks. A product of Schotsche Kloof Walmers RFC in Bo‑Kaap, Pead quickly gained recognition for his speed, sharp decision-making, and all-round technical ability.

In 2025, Pead’s breakthrough came during the World Rugby U20 Championship, where he emerged as one of the standout players of the tournament. He finished as the top try-scorer with six tries and recorded over 230 metres gained, breaking tournament records previously held by international stars such as Antoine Dupont. His performances were critical to the Junior Springboks’ success, including match-winning contributions during the knockout stages.

Pead’s consistent form has earned him a call-up to train with the senior Springbok squad, alongside fellow U20 standouts Bathobele Hlekani and Cheswill Jooste. Known for his pace, accurate passing, and tactical kicking, he is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most promising young scrum-halves.

With a strong foundation in domestic rugby and growing international experience, Pead is poised to transition to professional club rugby and potentially a senior Springbok debut in the near future.
